Full Text on Tinubu declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State.

Image
Text of the Broadcast by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, declaring State of Emergency in Rivers state on Tuesday 18 March 2025 Fellow Nigerians, I feel greatly disturbed at the turn we have come to regarding the political crisis in Rivers State. Like many of you, I have watched with concern the development with the hope that the parties involved would allow good sense to prevail at the soonest, but all that hope burned out without any solution to the crisis.  With the crisis persisting, there is no way democratic governance, which we have all fought and worked for over the years, can thrive in a way that will redound to the benefit of the good people of the state. The state has been at a standstill since the crisis started, with the good people of the state not being able to have access to the dividends of democracy. Also, it is public knowledge that the Governor of Rivers State for unjustifiable reasons, demolished the  House of Ass...

Continuous use of "acting Chairmen" is illegal and undermines constitutional democracy — _group tells Edo governor

Image
_...As Okpebholo continue to disparage Tinubu's cherished achievement—local government autonomy_ By Gidigba Group Again, Gidigba Group, a Benin-based socio-political organization, reminds the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo, of the brazen illegality and anti-democratic posture that has become common place in Councils in Edo State, owing to the illegal occupation of Councils by "acting Chairmen", having evicted validly elected Council Chairmen and Vice Chairmen last December. The conceptualization of "acting Chairman" by the Okpebholo-led administration, is alien to our constitution and does not hold any validity in constitutional democracy; and for a four-month old administration to be so embroiled in brazen anomaly portends a dark spot in the administration's life. Today, despite the political inconvenience, many States have embraced local government autonomy, governors are interacting with elected local government Chairmen to advance development down ...

The daredevil revenue enforcers insisted the driver must pay the sum of ₦1, 000 ticket branded ‘Ahor Community Development Association’, after the now deceased driver initially offered ₦600; the matter degenerated, when the driver refused to pay ₦1, 000 strongly demanded by the agents, leading to a melee and he was eventually hacked with the wheel spanner of his truck. 60 Days in office with meaningless projects___ Gidigba group tells Okpebholo

Image
60 Days of Meaningless "Wakawaka", Gov Okpebholo Set To Commission Painted Road Kerbs As Project By Gidigba group       In a shocking display of misplaced priorities, Governor Monday Okpebholo is set to commission painted road kerbs as a project after 60 days of inaction. The commissioning according to available information is expected to happen along Airport and Sapele road to mark his 60days in office He will also use the avenue to visit victims who were beaten by Agberos at Edo specialist hospital and UBTH. This move has left many questioning the governor's understanding of the state's pressing needs. The governor's decision to invest time and resources into painting road kerbs, rather than addressing more critical issues, has been met with widespread criticism. Many are labeling this move as a desperate attempt to create a semblance of progress, rather than a genuine effort to drive meaningful change. This lackluster project is a far cry from the promises ma...
