  Oba of Benin expresses disappointment over Agba’s sectional representation The Oba of Benin,  Oba Ewuare II, has expressed “total disappointment“ over what he described as the “lopsided representation“ by the immediate past Minister of Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba. In a statement in Benin by Mr Iguobaro Osaigbovo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba, the king noted that while in office the ex-minister failed to extend ministerial benefits to Edo South and Edo Central Senatorial Districts. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar said the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike’s excessive alcohol damaged his kidney and not poisoning. Atiku, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, said Wike was a victim of self-inflicted alcoholic poisoning. He said Wike should go for confession and not thanksgiving, given his ignoble role in the election in Rivers State. Recall that Wike had alleged that he was poisoned at the PDP secretariat in December 2018. The former governor at a special Thanksgiving service organised in his honour at the St. Peters Deanery, Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor, on Sunday, said the poison ravaged his internal organs, affecting his liver and kidneys and almost killed him but for God’s interventions. But, Shaibu, in a statement on Monday advised Nyesom Wike to reduce his consumption of alcohol following a revelation that his liver and kidneys failed due to “poisoning.” He

The Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed receipt of a letter for medical leave from Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji in a statement on Tuesday in Akure, explained that the governor asked for 21-day leave for medical treatment abroad starting from June 7 to July 6. According to the letter, the speaker said the leave will be extended to July 6 due to the public holidays on June 12(Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir on June 28 and June 29. He explained that the governor had stated in the letter that his deputy, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would act as acting governor for the period he will be away. The speaker, who described the governor as a lover of peace and an apostle of the rule of law, wished him a speedy recovery and a joyful vacation.

The Commissioners include Ethan Osaze Uzamere, Christopher Osaretin Nehikhare, Monday Osaigbovo, Dr. Joan Osa-Oviawe, Isoken Omo, Stephen Ehikhioya Idehenre, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, Patrick Uanseru, and Samuel Alli (Dr.). ___Calls for animal vaccination in Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States THE Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Monday, urged Nigerians to stop consumption of hides (pomo), smoked meat and bush meat over outbreak of Anthrax in some neighbouring countries. The alert was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Ernest Umakhihe. Umakhihe said it became very necessary to alert Nigerians on the disease that is transferred from infected animals to humans. According to him the outbreak of Anthrax is currently ravaging Northern Ghana bordering Burkina Faso and Togo. Anthrax spores are naturally found in the soil and commonly affect domestic and wild animals.
