Osayande inaugurates Secretary to Local Government, Special Adviser to Council, Supervisory Councilors



_be ambassadors of peace, development…, council boss tasks newly sworn-in aides_

The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande on Tuesday, inaugurated the Secretary to Local Government (SLG), Special Adviser to Council and five (5) Supervisory Councilors in the Local Government Area, with a charge to be ambassadors of peace and development; Osayande urged the new appointees to shun rancour, and use their positions to attract meaningful developments to their areas. 

Osayande said the appointees were selected from various Wards in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area as a result of their commitment and passion in the discharge of their duties in their former positions; he charged them to continue to portray the party and local government area in good light. 

The Chairman disclosed that, “Ikpoba-Okha, known for unity and inclusiveness will continue to exhibit tendencies aimed at promoting the ideals of unity and inclusivity; "we must continue to foster unity and inclusiveness in our party by giving the opportunity for popular participation"; he noted that the appointment is based on nominations by leaders of the various Wards who agreed and confirmed that the people who are nominated are people who are faithful, served the party, and have the capacity to work in line with his administration's policies and programmes.

The newly-inaugurated aides are Barr. Osagie Igbinomwanhia, who is Secretary to Local Government (SLG) and Desmond Iyen, appointed Special Adviser to Council.

Others are Bright Obetoh, Supervisory Councilor for Education, Prince Aisosa Ogiegbaen, Supervisory Councilor for Health and Environment, Smith Osunde, Supervisory Councilor for Information, Youths and Sports, Joshua Ehi Tom, Supervisory Councilor for Works and Tracy Odeh, also sworn-in as Supervisory Councilor for Agriculture.

Speaking further, Osayande noted, "you have been carefully selected to help in the daily running of the Council, you are expected to discharge your duties along the line of our policies; we expect you to market the Council in good light, making yourselves ambassadors of peace and development".

"I urge you to shun tendencies capable of bringing division and rancour to our fold"; be reminded that you are our eyes and voices in your various Wards, hence you must seek proper directive before taking any action".

"Be ambassadors of peace and meaningful development and present yourselves worthy before your people", Osayande conclude.

In his remark, Barr. Osagie Igbinomwanhia, who spoke on behalf of other aides, assured of their unwavering loyalty and commitment to the dictates of the party and the Council; Igbinomwanhia noted that being a second term SLG, he particularly understands the direction of the Council and will work in line with established policies and programmes of the Osayande-led administration.

"I want to thank you, Mr. Chairman for the confidence you have reposed on us; we do have a clear understanding of the direction of your administration, and will work for its success; we shall continue to be loyal to the leadership of our party and local government area, and pursue excellence in the discharge of our duties".

The newly-inaugurated aides were administered the oath of allegiance.

Earlier, the Council Chairman, officials and staff of the Council participated in the monthly prayers to dedicate the new month in God's hands. 

The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande, Vice Chairman, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, Speaker of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Kingsley Balogban, Head of Local Government Administration, Kessington Osifo JP, Director of Administration and General Services, Comrade Blessing Uhunmwagho, Members of the Legislative Arm, Heads of Department, PDP Chairman, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Pst. Paul Osazuwa, a former SLG and leader in the LGA, Pst. Blessed Ighiwiyisi, party members and a host of others were amongst guests present at the inauguration held at the Festival Hall, Council Secretariat, Idogbo, Benin City, the Edo State capital.
