Traders celebrate the potential economic opportunities of Ekae Market
The completion of Ekae Market is a promise earnestly fulfilled, Hon. Osunde

The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde, has commissioned Ekae Market featuring about 80 lock- up and 80 open stalls, an industrial borehole, water taps and toilets in convenient locations within the market. The facility also has huge surrounding ground for car parks and extended market activities.
Traders and women leaders of Edo Market Traders Association were enthusiastic as they celebrated the potential opportunities provided by the commissioning of the Ekae infrastructure for economic transactions.
Hon. Osunde remarked during the ceremony that the completion of the market was ‘’an earnest fulfillment of the promise made to the community regarding the establishment of a modern and clean trading location to boost socio-economic life in Ekae and the surrounding communities.’’
The Council Chairman noted that the building and upgrading of market infrastructure in different parts of the Local Government Area was also in tandem with Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki’s uplifting vision to ensure that traders, particularly market women were availed of secured locations to conduct their business.
Hon. Osunde also announced on the occasion that the Council has paid its counterpart fund for the building of a market in Umegbe community to ensure even spread of such facilities across the Local Government Area.
The President of the Edo State Market Traders Association, Madam Blackie Ogiamien, who was present at the ceremony commended the Oredo Council for its enhancement of the welfare of female traders and the empowerment of women in general.
Also present during the commissioning were the Head of Oredo Local Government Administration, Dr. Osaherunmwen O. Igbinigie, the Speaker of Oredo Legislative Arm, Hon. Jeffery Ewansiha, the Councilor for Oredo Ward 2, Hon. Harrison Izekor, the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Meg Aigbokhai and the Supervisor for Works, Hon. Harrison Agbotaen .
The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the community, Comrade Fred Ekuase, assured during the ceremony that arrangements have been concluded for maximum protection of the traders, property as well as the patrons of the market.
