Edo Lady based in Canada published her second book

An esteemed Edo Indigene in diaspora, Lady Nekpen Obasogie has published her second book titled Benin Warriors and the British Colonial Rule in Nigeria . The first book, Great Benin: The Alcazar of Post-Colonial Culture and Its Relationship with the Europeans Since 1400 AD examines what transpired between the Europeans and the Benin Kingdom from 1400 AD to the invasion by Britain in 1897. She asserts that knowing what transpired in the past will help to understand the present and advance the future.  The Benin Kingdom has always been at the apex of European and African relationships from early contact to when Britain colonized Benin in the 19th century. Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.   Urges Leaders of ECOWAS to strengthen political and diplomatic options to resolve the political compass in Niger Republic The Nigeria Senate has asked the Chairman of the Economic  Community of  West  African  States,  ECOWAS and other leaders of the region to tread with care in addressing the political crisis in Niger Republic. House of Rep Election: Tribunal nullifies LP candidate’s election, declares PDP’s Elumelu winner

 The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, Delta State, has nullified the election of the member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Constituency at the House of Representatives, Mr Ngozi Okolie. Ngozi Okolie of the Labour Party, LP, was declared the winner of the February 25 House of Representatives election in the federal constituency by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ndidi Elumelu, filed a petition he before the tribunal praying it to disqualify Okolie. Elumelu, in the petition no EPT/DL/HR/06/2023, argued that Okolie was not properly sponsored by the Labour Party and that he did not resign his position as a public office holder. The three-member tribunal panel headed by Justice A.Z. Mussa, in it’s ruling, disqualified Okolie and declared the runners-up in the election, Ndudi Elumelu as the winner of the election. The Oba of Benin is meeting with Tinubu for the first time after his inauguration as Nigeria’s President on May 29th.
