Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde Salutes the Fallen Heroes


—Oredo Council Chairman Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde calls for continuous maintenance of patriotic solidarity among citizens 

—Present generation of Nigerians owe the Fallen Heroes an obligation to build a nation that will be the pride of the Black race in particular and humanity in general 

—Edo State’s status as a rising economic power house in the South-South Region holds the potential to spur the emergence of a stronger nation for posterity 

The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has appealed for greater solidarity among Nigerian citizens to ensure the survival of the nation for which the country’s Fallen Heroes paid the ultimate price. 

Hon. Osunde made the remarks in a media interview after laying a wreath at Cenotaph of the Unknown Soldier by the Museum Ground at the King’s Square in Benin-City during the 2021 celebration of the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day. 

The Oredo LGA Chairman said that the event was crucially significant to remind Nigerians of the courageous and gallant efforts made by Nigeria’s Fallen Heroes who sacrificed their lives in various fatal situations defending the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. 

 Hon. Osunde expressed confidence that country can flourish into formidable nationhood adding that instances like the status of Edo State as a rising economic power house in Nigeria’s South-South holds the potentials to elevate the nation to greater heights. 

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day was attended by Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, Hon. Speaker Marcus Onobun,  the Army  Brigade Commander, Air Force Commander, Representatives of the Oba of Benin , widows of Fallen Heroes and array of other dignitaries .
