Oredo LGA intensifies CoronaVirus Sensitization and Awareness Campaign

Council Chairman Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde declares that Oredo community will rise in victory against the deadly virus

Council leadership call on residents to follow the preventive protocols stipulated by the State Governor Godwin Obaseki 


The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde along with the Council’s top leaders has laid out an intensive sensitization and awareness campaign against the spread of CoronaVirus. 

Speaking at one of the most crowded commercial centers, the Oba Market, in Benin-city, the Council Chairman said that the LGA was determined to intensify the sensitization campaign against the spread of the deadly virus.


Hon. Osunde said that the administration was launching a special intensification phase of the awareness campaign adding that all crucial stakeholders and groups residents in the Council area will be mobilized to join the sensitization battle against Covid-19. 

He particularly appealed to the Market Women Association at various commercial centres across the Local Government Area to initiate internal sensitization efforts among their members and the larger public with who they regularly trade. 

Hon. Osunde warned that the Council will vigorously enforce the State Government regulation regarding the wearing of Face Masks in public places as well as other rules of hygiene that have been established by the state administration . 

The Council’s sensitization effort was also extended to the immediate vicinity of Oba Market, Lagos Street and other neighborhoods.  


Joining Hon. Osunde on the sensitization campaign were officials of the Council including the LGA Secretary and Chairman of the Covid-19 Protocol Enforcement Committee,   Hon. Ehimwenma Raymond Olaye, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Jeffrey Ewansiha, Deputy Leader, Hon. Harrison Izekor, the Supervisor for Agriculture , Hon. Dickson Osawe, the Director of Revenue, Comrade Agbondimwin Uyigue, the Director of Information, Comrade Harrison Oronsaye, the Co-ordinator( Primary Health Care) Dr. Marvelson  Obasogie among others.

Hon. Osunde noted that the Covid-19 sensitization campaign will be extended to other parts of the Local Government Area within the few days.

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
