‘’ Don’t Attempt to Subvert the Historic Mandate of the Voters’’, ALGON Warns

‘’The People of Edo State Will Engage in Constitutional and Courageous Resistance Against any Plot to sabotage the outcome of the People-powered Second Term Victory of Governor Obaseki’’

‘’Saturday September 19th was a towering landmark for peaceful and democratic revolution’’

The Edo State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ( ALGON)  has issued a stern warning to persons who might be engaged in sinister plots to overturn the result of the just concluded Edo State Governorship election.

ALGON remarked in a statement in Benin that ‘’Edo voters have forthrightly responded to the call of History. Any attempt to invalidate the peoples’ mandate will be massively, formidably, peacefully and courageously resisted by the people.’’

The Association’s statement was signed by the state chairman of ALGON Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde and all the other Local Government Chairmen in the state.

Continuing, ALGON emphasized the significance of the role played by the people in ensuring the victory of the Governor. The Association declared that ‘’ what we witnessed during the election was an approximate constitutional and democratic seizure of power by the people as the legitimate repository of our political sovereignty.’’

Still focusing on the energetic spirit of democratic exercise by the people, ALGON stated that there were ‘’ incontrovertible narratives from electoral Wards across the state where thousands of ordinary voters exhibited extra-ordinary sense of civics by rejecting and resisting corruptive influence of the disgraced All Progressive Congress; Edo voters heroically refused and robustly pushed back the attempt by the APC to corrode their conscience and consequently buy their votes.’’

ALGON warned that any attempt to negate and scuttle the wishes of Edo voters through various undemocratic illegitimate channels could bear grave consequences for the society as the mass of Edo people regard the result of the 2020 election as their sacred mandate for Governor Obaseki.

The Association concluded that the all concerned political stakeholders should help to nurture peace and cultivate the path of progress in Edo State for the benefit of everyone.

I absolutely agree with you. For too long we have been taken for granted as illustrated by the unbelievable attempt to sell us a candidate who is a Confirmed THIEF and a LIER by another LIER and a THIEF. We need to investigate and probe the sources of their finances Edo State looted to the bones. Our youths pay ultimate price seeking employment in Libya and Middle-East and dying on the SAHARA desert on their way to Arab countries and Europe, while Looters diverted funds for development to private use, build five Mansions with Two Swimming Pools and a Golf course while his subjects languishing in unemployment . Obaseki gave us infrastructural development in Months on resuming office. The future is bright.
