Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Appeals to  #ENDSARS Protesters to Embrace the Path of Peace and Justice initiated by the  Edo State  Government.

Chairman of Edo State Chapter of ALGON, Hon. Osunde says that the criminal elements operating under the mask of the legitimate #ENDSARS protesters should be exposed by those seeking genuine reforms to Police conduct and related grievances.

Hon. Osunde declared that the leadership of Local Governments across the the State is formidably optimistic of the structure for peaceful resolutions to the demonstrations as initiated by Governor Obaseki.


The Chairman of the Edo State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ( ALGON), Hon .Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has declared that the political initiatives and legal structure by Governor Obaseki's administration represents the most viable option for a facilitated and sustainable resolution to the on-going demonstration by youths in the country .

According to a statement issued to the media in Benin-City today, Hon. Osunde noted that the Governor displayed ‘’ leadership foresight and courageous political integrity  by his very early decision to establish a Judicial Panel of Inquiry into the specific complaints being alleged by the #ENDSARS demonstrators in Edo State.’’ Continuing, 

Hon Osunde who is also the Executive Chairman of Oredo Government Area , remarked that the Governor ‘’ was proactive in answering  the call of History by taking on some challenges which could have been justifiably ignored as the direct responsibility of the Federal Government.’’ 

The ALGON Chairman further stated that ‘’ despite the fact that the #ENDSARS protests was mainly a National movement, the Governor patriotically  decided to embrace the larger responsibility of initiating a series of effective actions from the State to engender a quicker  Federal resolution.’’

Hon. Osunde noted that all Local Government Chairmen in Edo State were collectively encouraged by the actions taken so far by the Governor to ensure the security of lives and property. The ALGON Chairman said the members of the association were vigilant in monitoring persons engaged in the ‘’ sinister duplication of the identity of genuine ENDSARS demonstration to inflict economic sabotage and terrorise the people of Edo State.’’

Hon. Osunde called on the legitimate ENDSARS protesters to’’ reciprocate the reconciliatory peace and justice initiatives that have been launched by the Governor to ensure quick resolution of the grievances for the mutual benefit of the youths and the larger Nigerian society.

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
