Oredo Council Chairman Appeals for Calm in the Local Government Area

Hon. Osunde says that the protesters should thoughtfully consider the proposals for genuine peaceful resolution of the agitation as laid out by the State Government.

‘’ The peace structure established by Governor Obaseki will catalyze the objectives of consultation, examination and resolution of the issues being raised by the ENDSARS protest in Edo State.’’

The LGA Chairman pleads with the legitimate ENDSARS protesters not to allow criminal elements and thugs to contaminate their movement.


The Executive Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has urged the youth involved in the #ENDSARS movement to’’ distance themselves from the activities of the criminal elements and thugs who seem intent on, perpetrating anarchy, robbery and destruction of public and private property, under the guise of participating in an otherwise constitutional citizen action.’’

The LGA Chairman who made the remarks to the media in Benin-City today stated that the conduct of the infiltrators of the #ENDSARS campaign has ‘’proved negative to the declared original intention of the youth who were exercising their fundamental democratic rights as citizens of Nigeria.’’ 

According to the Hon. Osunde, ‘’ when peaceful protest assembly aimed at engendering dialogue for societal reforms devolve into widespread violence , robbery, arson  and attacks against innocent citizens, such a movement will unfortunately begin to acquire the definition  of anarchic riots instead of a civilized  civic freedom of expression.’’

‘’ Edo State Government ‘’, Hon Osunde noted, has’’ initiated a worthy model for contact, consultation, examination and resolution of the issues being raised particularly by the #ENDSARS movement in Edo State.’’ The Council Chairman stated that the Edo State was one of the first in the country to initiate such a fundamental peace  effort in a manner reaffirming the Governor’s commitment to enhancing the fortune of youths through unprecedented favourable  policies and projects.’’ ‘’ I will therefore encourage all concerned to make presentations before duly constituted judicial panel of inquiry in their constitutional quest for justice’’, the LGA pleaded.

Hon. Osunde urged the genuine participants in the #ENDSARS movement to, patriotically denounce those persons perpetrating mayhem and terror on the people and economy of Oredo Local Government Area  in a manner that is detrimental to the collective interest of the Oredo society with consequences far beyond.

The Council Chairman urged the criminal elements disrupting peace in the local area under the guise of #ENDSARS protest to ‘’immediately cease and desist from their sinister conduct for the good of everyone.’’

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
