A statement by the Progressive Association of Oredo Youths 

We the members of the Progressive Association of Oredo Youths ( PAOY) wish to clearly inform the people of Edo State, that the Councilors who defected from Oredo Local Government Council to join the 
APC campaign, were the most regressive elements in the local administration. 

It should be clear that all the seven traitorous seven councilors have always belonged to a cabal often derisively described as the ‘’ Agbero Caucus’’ with the Local Government. It is not therefore surprising that the derelict lawmakers have officially broken away from the path of honor which Governor Obaseki inspires in the Local Government administration state-wide.

 Very notably, the defected Councilor from Ward 4, Bright Aisien Alabi , was already under a sanction of  ‘Vote of No Confidence’ from his constituency, following a finding that Alabi had proved to be an irredeemable failure as a representative of his constituents. 

Two shameless Councilors among the defectors, whose detailed profile will be released in a few days, had been invited in July to appear before internal LGA investigative panel for various illegitimate conducts. Beyond the opportunistic defection, these dishonorable Councilors are actually fleeing from justice and accountability as they are scared of facing inquiries and grilling from their constituents. The best way to describe the dirty drama of the defection that happened on Tuesday is ‘good riddance to bad rubbish’. 

The Association of Progressive Oredo Youths is very pleased that the leadership of the Council recently resisted the attempt by, four of the defectors, to blackmail the Local Government for payment of spurious additional ‘’furniture’’ allowances. 

There have been various instances where some of the fleeing Councilors attempted to impose their selfish dubious individual interests in shaping the policies of the Local Government. 

We are hereby seeking a meeting with the Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde, to submit our comprehensive assessment of the positive impact of Governor Obaseki’s socio-economic initiatives on Oredo youths in the past three years. 

The September 19th election is pivotal for us and we shall ensure that no group of people or individual will gamble with our destiny. 

Finally, we counsel one of the Councilors and another top political functionary who recently resumed duty in the Council, to immediately on their own proceed to join the APC campaign instead of staying on 
as moles and internal saboteurs in the LGA.

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
