Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde Inaugurates Vigilante Monitoring Committee

LGA Chairman compliments Gov. Obaseki’s overall security strategy 


The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has inaugurated a Vigilante Monitoring Committee for the immediate actualization of his recently launched 3-pronged Peace and Security  strategy for the Council.

Hon. Osunde had announced at a special enlarged Peace and Security meeting in Benin last week that the Council will establish and rejuvenate various structures to maximize the local impact of what Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki was implementing through the state-wide security architecture.

In launching the Vigilante Monitoring Committee at the Oredo secretariat yesterday, Hon. Osunde emphasized that the initiative represented a’’ strategic strata in ensuring that the Council maintains intimate security vigilance at the neighborhood levels of the LGA.’’

According to the LGA Chairman, ‘’every security operation is only as strong as the linkage anchored on the participation and mobilization of the people and the community.‘’ ‘’Consequently, I urge the members of the Vigilante Monitoring Committee to quickly explore the means for evolving the role of the people at the neighborhood level as catalysts for achieving overall peace and security’’, Hon. Osunde concluded. 


The inauguration of the Vigilante Monitoring Committee was attended by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Raymond Olaye, the Head of Local Government administration, Dr. Osaheni Igbinigie, the Council’s Treasurer, Mrs Ekiuwa Idumwonyi as well as a representative of the Legislative Arm of the Council, Hon. Harrison Izekor.

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
