Oredo LGA Vigilante in Collaboration with the Nigeria Police Launch Successful Operation against Cultists and Kidnappers

Oredo LGA will be safe for end-of-year celebrations, Hon. Osunde reassures the community


The Nigeria Police in joint effort with the Oredo Vigilante team has successfully launched vigorous operations against cultists, kidnappers and other dangerous criminal elements at Iyekogba area of the Council.

The security agents seem to have accelerated and intensified the tempo of their operations in their resolve to ensure safe and secure end-of-year celebration in the Local Government Area. 

Very significantly yesterday, the joint operation formation acted swiftly to rescue the Oredo Immunization Awareness Campaign Group in Igogogi as the team came under attack from kidnappers. It has been reported that one of the suspects is now being detained in undisclosed location for security reasons. 


The kidnapper was arrested after a rigorous gun battle between the Police detachment from the Iyekogba Area Command and the criminal syndicate.

It will be recalled that the Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde had recently launched a 3-pronged security strategy to ensure an effective synchronization of the Council’s security plans with the overall state security strategy being implemented by Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki.

Hon. Osunde commended both members of the Nigeria Police Force and the Oredo LGA Vigilante for their uncommon bravery and commitment in battling cultist and other criminals in the council area.

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
