The chairman of Oredo Local Government Area Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde is advancing the rejuvenation and actualization of a three-pronged strategy to ensure the security of lives and property within the council’s jurisdiction at all times and especially during the end-of-year festivities.
According to a special press release titled ‘’War on Criminals’’ issued by the Oredo Council Media Office today, the Council Chairman said that the administration has decided to urgently rejuvenate various aspects of its security architecture to confront the increasing activities of criminal elements within the locality.’’
Hon. Osunde remarked that the Council is in tandem with the initiatives of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki who has issued very clear directives to the relevant agencies to ensure that the menacing wave of criminality is promptly terminated.
Continuing, the LGA Chairman said that the Council was particularly pleased with the exigent speed for the re-mobilization of the state-wide security Joint Task Force by the Governor. The efforts of the task force is already yielding perceivable and reassuring results here in Oredo and hopefully, in other Local Government Areas, Hon. Osunde asserted.
The Council Chairman also commended the State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo for his outreach to major stakeholders in the current efforts to ensure peace and order in the state.
Hon. Osunde assured that the Council will play its part in the endeavor to ensure the safety of life and property in the Local Government. ‘’ We shall effectively synergize with the Joint Task Force at the state level as an inextricable part of the larger security architecture while contemporaneously operationalizing our own LGA vigilante groups along with extensive mobilization of various neighborhood grassroots organizations’’, according to the Council Chairman.
Hon. Osunde stated that the efforts of the Council in combating the criminal elements in Oredo LGA was going to be holistic in a way that will be suffocating and the terrain suicidal for the armed robbers, the kidnappers, murderers and other criminals in our society.’’
The Chairman remarked that all the residents and visitors to Oredo, from the market women, to the shoppers, the workers in small and big enterprises as well as Benins in the Diaspora visiting for the historic Igue Festival, the Christmas and New Year celebrations should be rest assured of a safe and peaceful Local Government Area. The protection of life and property is one of our core obligations as a Local Government, we shall not fail’’, Hon. Osunde concluded.
