Oredo Council Chairman commends security agencies for recent successful operations against cultists and armed gangs in the Council area


 Oredo Security Outfit Will Remain Acutely Alert during End-of –year Festivities

Council Chairman commends security agencies for recent successful operations against cultists and armed gangs in the Council area 



The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has restated the commitment of the Council to give priority to security of lives and property during the end-of year celebrations. 

Hon. Osunde, observed in a statement released by the  Oredo Media Office in Benin-City today, that the period of the festivities’’ should not be seen by criminal elements as an opportunity to inflict harm on the society.’’  Rather, according to the Chairman,’’ the Nigerian Police, the Oredo Vigilante team and other security agencies will stay acutely alert to ensure that Oredo people are able to celebrate the holidays in safe and secured atmosphere.’’ ‘’ It is our abiding commitment to make Oredo a hostile terrain for cultists and armed gangs ‘’, Chairman Osunde pledged. 

Hon. Osunde stated that the Market Surveillance Unit of the Police recently launched an operation leading to the recovery of deadly illegal firearms. The Oredo LGA Chairman further revealed that cultists operating in the Council area were in for a hard time as the Police and Oredo Vigilante team have been actively tracking the criminal elements with success stories of combating and arresting some of the cultists during the Christmas celebration. 

Hon. Osunde observed that Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki has been remarkably proactive in his strategic directives for combating crimes adding that the Governor ‘’ spent considerable time during the holidays hosting briefings and issuing directives about security situation in the state.’’

Hon. Osunde concluded that the Council will do its utmost to maximize the effect of the Governor’s overall security architecture at the local level through Oredo 3-pronged Security strategy.

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
