Oredo Mobilizes the Community for Collective Security.

LGA Holds Expanded Summit on Peace and Security.


Senior Law Enforcement Agents, Political Stakeholders, Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders, Youth Representatives, Leaders of Market Women Organizations  and Media Practitioners Convened at the  Oredo  Council Secretariat on  Friday to collectively Examine the Security Situation in the Local Government Area with the aim of nurturing peace and security in the society 

Leading the Opening Session of the Summit, Oredo Council Chairman, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde Declared that the Local Government Area will be Safe and Secured during End-of Year Celebrations and Thereafter

Hon. Osunde Commended the Efforts of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki for the exigent resuscitation of the Joint Task Force focusing on the overall Security of the State

Consequent on efforts by the leadership of Oredo Local Government Area to act in tandem with the premiere statewide security initiative of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the Council on Friday  convened a special summit to examine strategies for effective implementation of the overall vision for maintenance of law , peace and order in the locality. 

Addressing a formidable assembly of representatives from various segments of the society as well top cadre of law enforcement agencies, the Oredo Council Chairman, Hon. Evbareke Jekins Osunde, said that the summit was summoned to elicit the insightful perspectives of broad-based stakeholders regarding the emergent issue of peace and security in the Local Government Area.

In view of the positive influence of cultural and traditional rulers in the society, Chairman Osunde’s special committee ,on peace and security, encouraged the attendance of distinguished persons like the Enogie of Umegbe, HRH Anthony Osagie, the Enogie of AmagbaAkengbuda, HRH Evbinmadomwan Igbinenikaro, the Enogie of Evbuovbiuke, HRH Eghosa Kelly Ediae and outstanding representatives of Evbuivbioba, Iguikpe, Evbonede, Okpebor, Utagban , Ugbor, Evbinyomwanru , Evbuokuden ,Okhuoromi and Ulemo communities . The Oredo historic peace and security meeting was also well attended by a large number of Odionweres, Okaevbos, a respectable  collectives of landlords and landladies, members of Civil Society as well as  Market Women Associations led by Madam Blacky Ogiamien .

Of crucial significance at the summit was the attendance by the Department of State Security (DSS), the  Nigeria Police which included CSP Onaghise Osayande, CSP Fodio Sani, representative of Oba Market Area Command, the DPOs of  Oba Market Police Station as well as those of Esigie and Ulemon Police Stations.  Representatives from Edo Vigilante Congress, Ihebezu organization and members of the Hunters Association of Nigeria equally participated at the summit. 

The profound essence of the special assembly was further established as the political  leadership strata of Oredo LGA from the Supervisors to the Councilors as well as the Special Assistants along with the entire management staff of the Council all participated at the convention.

The highlight of the summit included the unveiling of a 3-pronged strategy for maximum security in the Local Government Area by the Council Chairman who observed that  Oredo administration, will rejuvenate   its own vigilante groups and various security-conscious neighborhood collectives in the march against criminals.

While expressing appreciation to the participants at the summit, Hon. Osunde said that Oredo LGA residents and citizenry will be ‘’unified and mobilized to jointly ensure the success of the campaign and crusade against crime in the locality.’’ 


Hon
Osunde concluded his remarks with a pledge that ‘’ Oredo LGA leadership seriously embraces the obligation for the protection of lives and property of all Oredo residents and visitors during the Christmas and New Year Celebrations and in the days beyond.’’
