The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government has recorded a sporadically high number of 325,000 residents screened for the COVID-19 pandemic in the locality; recall that Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area has 8 stationary information centres and 10 mobile screening centres and continuously deploy health experts in its bid to safeguard the health of Ikpoba-Okha people amid the global pandemic

During a LGA-wide tour of COVID-19 screening centres for the pandemic on Monday, Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Govt, Eseosa Ewere interacted with health experts at various screening points, during which they revealed that there has been considerable turnout of residents for the exercise

In some centres however, experts revealed that there was need to intensify house-to-house campaigns as residents continue to show reluctance to present themselves for the programme; the Press Secretary has said that he will get the Council Chairman's approval to organize mini sensitization campaigns across deficient areas for improved turnout

Dr. Eric Osayande has said that his administration is determined to contribute immensely to the Edo State Government's efforts at flattening the curve following the epidemiological study that the COVID-19 pandemic will peak in Edo State on June 28

Centres visited during the Monday tour were Santana market screening centre, Itohan screening centre, Oka market screening centre and St. Saviour screening centre

Others are Amufi screening centre, Ohovbe screening centre, Aduwawa screening centre and Ikopba Hill screening centre

The team were also at the Ologbo screening centre where the tour came to a climax

The Ikpoba-Okha Local Govt has again, asked residents to continue to observe the prescribed precautionary measures of regular hand-washing under running water, application of hand sanitizers, use of facemasks and keep social and physical distance; more hand sanitizers and other precautionary kits to be distributed to individuals and groups soon, the Local Government has said
