Oba Market Fire Incident :
A Huge  Economic Tragedy -Hon. Osunde 

The Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde has described the fire incident which destroyed extensive  parts of the Oba Market in Benin-City as " a painful setback for commercial activities in the metropolis "

The LGA Chairman who was one of the earliest visitors to the market site following the early morning blazing fire at the prominent commercial location remarked that the incident was a " deadly  economic havoc in the period of a ravaging health pandemic " 
Looking visibly shaken and saddened , Hon. Osunde noted the market was one of " the most  significant hub of economic and commercial life of Benin-City. "

He observed that in addition to the wild wreckage done to the physical structure of the market , "the textile and livestock sections of the market were the most affected in the popular trading location"

The fire incident was said to have begun just before midnight .

The Chairman however expressed relief that no life was lost in the incident. Hon. Osunde also credited the quick arrival and the combined intervention of various fire fighting teams to" contain the inferno from inflicting greater havoc beyond the disaster that was already on ground."

The Chairman said that the Council will soon liaise with the association of traders of Oba Market simultaneously with the technical and professional assessment of the damage to the commercial center . Hon. Osunde advised the traders to stay away from the site to prevent any dangerous situation of human casaulty. 
The LGA Chairman has assured that there will be full investigation into the fire incident as there was practically no live electricity in the vicinity when the fire was ignited .
He further assured the people of Oredo that every necessary step will be taken to " ensure quick resumption of commercial life in the market "

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
