Press Statement Issued By ALGON Following The Results of The ALLEGED  Abuja APC Screening Committee. 

—The Theatre of Political Fraud Called Screening Committee For the 2020 Edo Gubernatorial Election 

—All the 18 Local Government Chairmen of ALGON Reaffirm their Irreversible Support For Governor Obaseki's 8-Year Tenure of Service to Edo State People .

The Edo State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has described the alleged disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki by the APC Screening Committee for the 2020 gubernatorial election as a " profound affront " on decent democratic practices . 

The association comprising all the 18 Local Government Chairmen in Edo State remarked in a statement to the media in Benin-City that the screening excercise was dubiously conducted in a " staged fraudulent political theatre " by surrogates with " predetermined sinister agenda."

The Statement which was issued  on behalf of ALGON by its Chairman , Hon. Jenkins Evbareke Osunde , noted that the Screening Committee" violently desecrated the principles and the spirit of the APC Constitution regarding the procedural excerise for interested gubernatorial aspirants " . "The  attempt to disqualify a popular and accomplished Governor by the Committee was  a despicable mockery and shameful tragic comedy staged on behalf of an APC national cabal with a sinister agenda" , the ALGON Chairman further posited .

Hon. Osunde who is also the Executive Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area added that the outcome of the recent ignoble APC exercise " regrettably represent an" another odious exhibit in the series of undemocratic plots to sabotage and subvert the sacred will of the Edo electorate ".

The statement avowed that the " Abuja Screening debacle which was aimed at lessening the intensity of overwhelming support for the Governor has rather increased the passion and determination of ALGON for the resolution of progressive continuity and the completetion of the 8-Year expressed aspiration of the people ".

Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor resumes work in his new office

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Tuesday morning, officially resumed work in his new office at 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue very close to Edo state government house. This was after noticing that his former office in government house have been locked up by security men attached to government house.  Recall that on Monday, Philip Shaibu claimed that he had not received any official communication for him to relocate to the new office, he also said it was only the civil savants attached to his office that was relocated.  He was seen standing  by the entrance to his former office, which was under lock. He was also seen making a call to an unknown individual, pleading to help him call the governor to know why his former office was locked. Shaibu was also complaining to the unknown individual that he was yet to receive any letter asking him to relocate.
